Who We Are
The International Traditional Knowledge Institute Foundation (ITKIF) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) that works closely with community leaders, municipalities, the civil society and other non-profit organizations to preserve Traditional Knowledge (TK) and sustain the development of Creative Knowledge (CK) systems which are the contemporary evolution of TK practices that have adjusted to the rules of Nature, have learned how to work with them and not against them.

Our Initiatives
ITKI Foundation is currently involved in the following projects:
BREADS OF THE CREATIVE CITIES

The project describes the bread making traditions of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network that become a symbol of sharing and giving mutual support among the cities of the network.

The project looks at the fascinating relationship between Carrara – the city of marble – and its talented artisans and artists through video-interviews and cultural itineraries that show beauty and heritage around the city.
CREATIVE KNOWLEDGE PLATFORM FOR TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE WORLD BANK

The platform CKP for TKWB is a digital platform that can be used by experts, such as universities or professors, students, or knowledge keepers, to tell about the traditional knowledge they discovered or they use everyday in their region.

CHEESES

The project explores the history, science, culture and traditions of artisanal cheesemaking by telling the stories of the Knowledge Keepers (farmers, breeders, cheesemakers) and their heritage.
In support of PORTOVIEJO CREATIVE CITY

Implementation of “The Future…is under your feet” in Portoviejo:
Step one: to analyze the creative assets of the region and build a digital library of the local knowledge keepers, their ingredients and recipes through the Creative Knowledge Platform.
